Gear Tip: Bring a telephoto lens. Tripod recommended for aurora photography—northern lights excursions available at extra cost.
Activity Level: Standing in cold conditions; short walks on snow/ice/uneven ground.


Orientation Video Meeting: We'll have a scheduled video conference on Oct. 10 @ 6pm EST to discuss wardrobe staples, trip logistics to answer any questions. Conference link provided after you register.

FAQs

  • Will we definitely see the polar bears?

    Sightings are highly likely, but never guaranteed. 

  • What camera gear & skill level do I need?

    ANY camera will work (cell phones included). For best results, a mirrorless or DSLR with interchangeable lenses is recommended.  We pack 70-200mm and 100-400 lenses. If you have a 600 mm it's perfect.


    Tripod recommended if you'd like to photography the Northern Lights. Northern Lights excursions available at extra cost.

  • How strenuous is the trip?

    Light to moderate. We generally photograph within 100’ of the vehicles, and follow the no-approach-closer-than-100 ft rule. Uneven ground; expect 3–5 mi walking spread over a day.

  • Where do I stay?

    Our guests typically find lodging in Winnipeg the day before we fly to Churchill on November 8. There are hotels right across the street from the airport in Winnipeg. 


    From Winnipeg, you'll catch your flight into Churchill with the whole group on a Calm Air flight. In Churchill, we stay at a cozy lodge (included in the trip price) with a chance to see polar bears right outside the gates! The lodge rooms are dual occupancy. 

  • Is airport pickup available?

    If you stay at any of the airport hotels in Winnipeg, everything is within walking distance. All transportation in Churchill is provided for. 

  • Do I need to get a rental car?

    No. All transportation in Churchill is provided. You shouldn't need a rental car in Winnipeg since there are plenty of hotels right across the street from the Winnipeg airport. 

  • How do I pay and what are the fees?

    You can pay by check or Venmo. If paying by Venmo, Elaine will email you the Venmo link in the  welcome email after you register. All prices listed are in USD. 

  • What if weather shuts us out?

    We go out to look for wildlife, rain, snow, or shine. In the event you need to cancel, this trip is non-refundable. Please be sure you get trip insurance. 

  • What’s the cancellation policy?

    This is a non-refundable trip. Fees must paid ahead of time for the guides to keep everyone safe and make the trip a memorable adventure. Please be sure to get trip insurance.
