FAQs

  • Will we definitely see the wild mustangs?

Sightings are highly likely. The range holds ≈230 horses. But wildlife is never guaranteed. Our guides monitor the herds daily to maximize the odds.

  • What camera gear & skill level do I need?

ANY camera will work (cell phones included). For best results, a mirrorless or DSLR with interchangeable lenses is recommended.  We pack 70-200mm and 100-400 lenses. Longer zooms aren’t necessary but you can bring whatever you'd like!

  • How strenuous is the trip?

Light to moderate. We generally photograph within 100’ of the vehicles, and follow BLM’s no-approach-closer-than-100 ft rule. Uneven desert ground; expect 3–5 mi walking spread over a day.

  • Where do I stay?

We’ve reserved a discounted block of rooms at the Comfort Inn in Tooele, 1 hr from the range. Book under White Deer Photography to lock-in the rate. Lodging isn’t included in the trip cost.

  • Is airport pickup available?

Yes — free pick up from Salt Lake City (SLC) on 22 June, 1-3 p.m. Let us know your airline and flight number.

  • How do I pay and what are the fees?

Reserve with a $1000 deposit, payable by check (must be received by May 31), or Paypal (White Deer Photography). Please note a 3% processing fee will be added for Paypal payments. Balance due June 7.

  • What if weather or wildfires shut us out?

We go out to look for the horses, rain or shine. In the highly unlikely occurrence of a wildfire, you’ll receive a credit towards a future workshop or a pro-rated refund.

  • What’s the cancellation policy?

Cancel ≥60 days out: refund minus $100 admin fee. <60 days: payments are non-refundable but transferable if we fill your seat.
